This roller coaster used to be operational in Expoland (Japan) from 1996 to 2007, named Orochi. It was relocated to Walygator Parc in 2010.
The Monster has an exact clone except for the brake run, named Raptor at Cedar Point.
After the restraints are checked, the train leaves the station, turns left & ascends a 131 ft lift hill. It comes to the first drop, providing to the train with the velocity it needs to complete the whole layout, turning 90° left. The train enter a vertical loop & a Zero-G-Roll towards the right, then comes the mid-brakes. The train goes through a 270° turn to the right, two corkscrews, and a spiral. After a last turn it comes to the final brakes & returns slowly to the station. The layout is similar to the Raptor, opened in 1994, at Cedar Point, in the United States.
The construction started in January/February 2010. Because of harsh weather, work began later than scheduled, and the inauguration, initially planned for April 10, 2010, was deferred. A second inauguration deferment occurred mid-June because the TÜV didn't approve opening the roller coaster, then, the park hasn't communicated any inauguration day until the coaster could open July 9, 2010 (without its painting).
The Monster is antiseismic, consequence of its previous location in Japan.
The park announced a speed of 68 mph. However, this information is incorrect. Actually, it was written on the manufacturer's informations a speed of 55.9 mph,[1] the speed is the same as when it was in Japan.[2] The velocity hasn't increased during the move. This difference between the 'commercial' speed & the real speed is probably due to the same exaggeration like they did for their other roller coaster called Anaconda. The media just kept repeating the commercial slogans provided by the park without verifying the truth.
